Chores and Warm feet

February 6th, 2016

All good things come to an end... And sometimes better things take their place!  I was raised a city girl, took public transit to school, walked to Red Rooster for slurpee's, and my chores consisted of dusting plants, vacuuming and keeping my room clean.  The least favourite of these was the plant dusting... of all the things that I wanted to do on a Saturday morning, it was certainly not sit ...

Movin to the Country

December 27th, 2015
There are sights outside of town, that you just don't get to see in town or in the city.  Each time I drive some tools or supplies out to Kelly, I turn off of the highway onto the gravel road that leads to our homestead, and perched up in the tree's along the road I see hawks, eagles or an occassional owl.  In the summer it was mountain blue birds swooping from fence post to tree limb, or a b ...

Some Catching Up To Do

November 25th, 2015

No complaints... at all... but October was a busy month in my new career!  That is why the lull in my blog enteries!  Kelly has come a long way since my last post... and I am very pleased to report the progress.

When I last left you, we had a basement.  Well hold onto your socks, because I am going to catch you up today on the progress.  Where to start?  Our timbers from Oregon arrived back ...

Bob the Builder....

September 14th, 2015

It beat "Barney" and "Teletubbies" hands down. ...

September 3rd, 2015

"Well," said Pooh, what I like best- -" and then he had to stop and      think.  Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.

#2 Our Homesteading Adventure~

2nd Entry ~ House plans

The land was purchased and so began our hunt for what we would live in.   Should we move an older house on?  Should we buy a manufactured home and move it on?  Should we try to build again?  The number crunching began, and in the end, because we are able and willing to complete 99% of the work ourselves, it made the most sense to try to build.

  Kelly and I are VERY f ...

It has been 21 years of dreaming, wishing, and now planning.  I married my farm boy Kelly, in 1994.  Since that time, he has been yearning to have some space again, to repair fences, see the storms rolling in, and not see a soul for a while.

Since moving here in 2001 we have been completely captivated with the landscape of the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  From the sunsets, to the sno ...
